At Citi Field, the Monroe fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.  Javier
Vazquez(2-0) finally bested his Monroe opposite, Justin Verlander(2-3), by
the score of 2 to 0.
 
California jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring one
runner.  Ichiro Suzuki reached on an error.  Two outs later Miguel Cabrera
came to the plate and doubled.  That was all Vazquez needed.  Neither team
managed to score after the 2nd inning.  
 
Andrew Bailey gained credit for his 5th save.  Verlander took the loss.

Despite losing, he struckout 13 California batters in 9 innings.
