Victor Martinez hit a homerun as the California Surf defeated the Monroe
Matadors by the score of 3 to 0 at Citi Field.

California drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
scoring 2 runs using 3 hits.  Jason Bartlett kicked off the action when he
laced a one-base hit.  After another out, Oscar Salazar was the next batter,
but he struck out.  Miguel Cabrera then popped a two-run clout over the
fence.  Juan Rivera stepped in and he drew a walk.  Ryan Zimmerman stepped
into the box and drew a walk.  Martinez kept things alive and slapped a
base-hit to load the bases.  The early run support proved sufficient for Adam
Wainwright(1-1) and California.  That was all the run support Wainwright
required.  The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was
able to score again.

David Price(1-2) took the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 5
walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
