Ubaldo Jimenez held California to 3 hits as the blistering-hot Homestead Grays
topped the California Surf by a score of 9 to 2 at Petco Park.
Nelson Cruz had a good evening at the plate. He rifled a three-run blast in
the 1st inning, slapped a base-hit in the 3rd inning and doubled in the 7th
inning. Homestead banged out 10 hits on the night.
Jimenez(3-0) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Chris
Carpenter(0-2) was given the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 9
runs in 6 innings.
'He had his 'A' game tonight,' Steve Lockney said of Jimenez. 'Very
impressive performance.'
