Travelers are spending
more and embarking on 'bucket list' cruise adventures and new cruise
,According to the latest Outlook Report, when it comes to cruising, travelers are looking for a few things:
unique and exclusive
experiences (92%), exotic itineraries (90%), wildlife (87%),
enrichment and education (84%) and thrills (61%).
For people looking for next-level travel, cruising is the new cool. Known for eschewing "things" in favor of experiences,
Millennials, are choosing cruises in increasing numbers to visit bucket-list destinations, unique and exclusive excursions,
seek out wildlife and
exotic itineraries and, ultimately, discover the thrill of
Alaska Leads The List!
Alaska is the top destination for adventure or expedition travel with nearly eight of 10 (78%) travelers choosing the region
as their destination when booking adventure travel. Other adventuresome destinations of choice include the
Galapagos Islands (59%),
the South Pacific (51%) and Antarctica (43%).
More than a third report that travelers ages 40-49 (39%) and 30-39 (43%) have expressed increased interest in adventure travel over the last two years.
Older demographics are getting in on the action too: 34% are seeing greater interest in adventure travel from cruisers ages 50-59 and
nearly a quarter
(24%) from ages 60-69. Even an uptick in multigenerational travel to
Travelers tie cruises to adventure and bucket-list travel, which is an increasingly important factor in how and why people vacation.
Alaska continues its reign as the No. 1 growth destination in the cruise marketplace,
with an average booking window of nine to 18 months, customers are looking a year or more ahead to secure the best rates.
The day travelers are most likely to
search for an advisor (The answer might surprise you)
Do you think it's over the weekend when your home? That would be the logical choice.
At home, you have time to focus on your travel plans rather than work.
But research from Travel Leaders Group ( that includes us ) suggests otherwise. The day travelers search for a travel advisor is Wednesday.
Moreover, 85% of all
outreach from consumers came from Monday to Friday.
What's the best time to be looking around for a travel advisor?
The highest volume of inquiry is right around lunchtime, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. n other words, consumers are shopping for cruises
during work hours, presumably in their lunch time. Travel Leaders analyzed the use of cruise-related keyword searches on
Google over a 10-year period. They found people are searching for next year's cruise mostly in July.
Cruise travelers do their research five to six months out from their travel dates.
In some cases like Alaska, where capacity is limited, planning starts a year ahead of time. So, if your looking for the best advertised prices, largest selection of available accommodations, and deals available for next year, cruise travelers should focus their efforts to find a professional certified cruise travel expert during mid-summer.

"Hi Marty! I just wanted to take a moment to thank you so much for all that you did for our family/friends cruise on Royal Carribbean. My family loves the RCCL line....and as concerned as I was that we had little ones coming on this vacation, I was so impressed with the Ocean Adventure's Club. My two little ones wanted to be there all the time. I now have no reservations about bringing them on another RCCL cruise, the staff is just fabulous! When I originally started to research cruises and Travel Agents to help with the process, I was overwhelmed (Let's face it, sometimes the internet can be a good thing and sometimes it can be a bad thing). I am so happy that I can across your website. I sure didn't expect the response that I received from our family and friends when I started planning the cruise, and you were there every step of the way putting up with my cabin changes, adding new guests at the last moment, and removing guests in some cases, too! You were amazing and I know for a fact that you are responsible for our worry-free and amazing journey. Everyone that joined us on the cruise was extremely impressed at how well the whole thing fell together with little trouble on their parts. Again I can not thank you enough, and don't forget that we will be planning another one ! Explore Family Cruises "
"I just wanted to thank you for all your help. Packer Expeditions was excellent and I would highly recommend them again for anyone looking to do a glacier hike. Also, we ended up being upgraded to an outside cabin... It was a truly welcome surprise to say the least. It made all the difference in the world both having a window (even though it was an obstructed view) and having a larger cabin. Alaska was totally awesome and we thoroughly enjoyed the land tours. All the coach drivers and tour folks were very knowledgeable and helpful. So next time we are looking for a cruise I will be in touch! Thanks again, Ann."
" Our trip was excellent. The room, with the upgrades, was amazing! We saw many eagles (bald and golden), one bear, many whales, including one breach, seals, one bear, one wolf, moose and caribou, and many smaller animals.. If we travelled during salmon run, we probably would have seen more bear and eagles. The scenery is to die for, the vistas spectacular. The ship was great; service, food, etc were all great. Thanks for everything. "

Since 1999, we have been helping thousands of cruise travelers
Raye, We had a wonderful time
on our vacation. The cruise was fantastic. The service, the food
and the entertainment was great. We had great weather at all of
our stops. We did the Lumberjack show in Ketchikan which was
very entertaining and enjoyed by all of us. In Juneau we did the
Mt. Robert's Tram, a whale watch and the Mendenhall Glacier. All
three excursions were great. In Skagway we did the White Pass
Railroad which was fantastic. My nine year old granddaughter
stood on the platform of the train, with her father, and just
kept saying how beautiful Alaska is...The land tour was very
nice. The lodges were all beautiful. The rooms at the Kenai
lodge were our favorite. The rooms were very large and they all
had a wood stove and a deck. The Sea Life Center was great.
Mt. McKinley lodge was my favorite. We took your advice and went
to the fire pits. The restaurant we ate at was good. We took the
first shuttle to Talkeetna the next day. That was an interesting
little town. I had to try the Fireweed ice cream that was very
good. We enjoyed the train ride to Denali. We did see a moose.
The Denali lodge was very nice. We took your advice again and
went to the Husky Homestead. My granddaughters loved that
excursion. Jeff King is such a great speaker. I am sure we will
all follow the Iditarod next year. The Natural History Tour of
Denali was good. We had a great driver. We saw a moose eating on
the side of the road and one caribou. We did like the dining
shuttle at the Denali lodge. The Fairbanks Lodge was really
nice. We took the shuttle into town and spent some time
exploring. The Riverboat Discovery and Gold Dredge 8 were great.
On Saturday we took a shuttle to North Pole and then spent a few
hours at Pioneer Park before getting our flight home. The best
part of the land tour was not having to handle our luggage. We
even checked our luggage, for our flight home, at the lodge in
Fairbanks and got our boarding passes.
It was a wonderful trip
and we all enjoyed every minute of it. The two weeks went by so
